In response to the financial challenges faced by small business tenants caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Qualico’s Properties vertical decided to take a proactive and transparent approach to working with its commercial tenants to ensure they could ride out the COVID-related challenges they faced.

In March of this year, a group of six Qualico employees took part in Imagine A Way’s sixth annual Shoot for the Stars Sporting Clays Tournament to help raise funds for the organization.

Calgary, AB - Since 2014, Star Building Materials Calgary has coordinated and sponsored Ride Through the Rockies, an impressive fundraising cycling event in support of Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta. To date, the event has raised over $700,000, and with a collective attitude of “the show must go on,” the 2020 event was successful as a virtual ride, amidst COVID-19 restrictions.

Harrison Hot Springs, BC – On February 25-26, 19 members of Qualico’s Sustainability Working Group Committee attended the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s (CHBA) Net-Zero Home Leadership Summit. Qualico was part of a group of 210 attendees from key stakeholders that have impact and influence in the residential construction industry such as utilities, renewable energy solution providers, infrastructure design and development, financing, education and capacity building, and research and technologies.

Calgary, AB – John Morris and Rachel Homan took home the win, beating out the defending champions at the 2nd Annual Qualico Mixed Doubles Classic. Regina, SK – For cancer patients, transplant recipients, car-crash victims, and many more, a blood transfusion can mean the difference between life and death. The need is constant. With the goal of helping many Canadians in need of this vital service, Pacesetter Homes Regina coordinated a blood drive for staff and trades partners at the end of November.

Winnipeg, MB – For the sixth year in a row, Qualico ran its annual charity parking lot ball hockey tournament, with a record-high $10,800 being raised for CancerCare Manitoba and KidSport Winnipeg. The fun and lively tournament took place in October and November over a series of four weeks in frosty Winnipeg. A total of 75 Qualico employees from different business units made up eight die-hard teams, each playing a series of round robin games over workday lunch hours.

Winnipeg, MB – All of Qualico’s homebuilder business units took home gold at the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association’s Fall 2019 Parade of Homes Gala, held on October 25 at the RBC Winnipeg Convention Centre. The awards were presented in front of an audience of more than 700 attendees, and included 40 separate categories that were reviewed by volunteer judges.

Edmonton, AB - This past September, leaders from Alberta’s home building industry gathered at the Jasper Park Lodge for the annual BILD Horizons Conference, hosted by BILD Alberta. There were a number of events on the agenda, including the much anticipated BILD Alberta Awards, at which Qualico was proudly represented.
