Building a better future: supporting Kids With Cancer Society
Qualico and Kids With Cancer Society (KWCS) have partnered to help support families with a child undergoing cancer treatment, including participating in fundraisers such as the Inside Ride. Part of this partnership included working on a special project called Papa Ken’s House. In order to provide a home-away-from-home for families seeking cancer treatment for a child, KWCS – with Qualico's support and expertise – built a short-term accommodation facility that can house up to five families at a time.

BILD Alberta Award Winners Announced in Jasper
Edmonton, AB - This past September, leaders from Alberta’s home building industry gathered at the Jasper Park Lodge for the annual BILD Horizons Conference, hosted by BILD Alberta. There were a number of events on the agenda, including the much anticipated BILD Alberta Awards, at which Qualico was proudly represented.
Augusta Fine Homes walked away with the award for Best Single Family Home $525,000-$600,000 – Regular Residence. A great honour, the award marked Augusta Fine Homes’ first-ever win at the BILD Awards.

“Each Augusta Fine home that our team creates is special and uniquely suited to the family who will live there,” said Nicholas Carels, Vice-President, StreetSide Developments and recently of Augusta Fine Homes. “We collaborate extensively with our homeowners through the design and construction phases and it was very rewarding to see the result of that work acknowledged as being the best in class at the provincial level.”
StreetSide Developments also received awards for Best Multi-Family Duplex $350,000-$500,000 (The Mondavi), and Best Multi Family unit over $500,000 (The Opus).

“We were thrilled to learn that we were selected as finalists for two of our Triumph bungalows, to ultimately be selected as the winner in both categories at the awards ceremony was an incredible honour that can only be attributed to the talent and commitment of everyone on our team,” said Nicholas.

Brad Armstrong, Vice-President, Communities Edmonton, also received an award for Exceptional Service, in recognition of his dedication and service to CHBA Alberta.
"It was an honour to receive the Exceptional Service Award from BILD Alberta in front of my peers this past fall, and I want to thank Qualico for the support and encouragement they have given me to volunteer with BILD," said Brad. "Volunteering with our industry association is an important part of the work that we do. Not only does it help to advance the interests of builders and developers at the provincial and local levels, but it can minimize the impact of rising costs and over-regulation and help raise Qualico’s profile with our industry colleagues, senior bureaucrats and elected officials."
Over the years, Brad has dedicated hundreds of hours to help represent industry as part of the Municipal Government Act review, has chaired the BILD Alberta Governance Council, and has chaired UDI Edmonton’s board. He has been an active member and sounding board providing feedback on information and research to the association. He continues to chair BILD Alberta’s Policy and Regulation Governance Council. This council helps guide the advocacy work BILD Alberta does on behalf of its members. Congratulations, Brad, on your achievement.
