A Brief History of the Southern Alberta Region
Opportunity spurred Qualico’s move to Calgary in 1954
The homebuilding model established in Winnipeg was replicated in Calgary with great success, beginning with the construction of one of the largest pre-fabrication building plants in Western Canada. Qualico’s presence in Calgary evolved to include community and commercial development, multi-family housing, building materials and supply services, and property management.
To this day, Qualico continues to foster the inventive spirit that brought its business to the Southern Alberta Region. Whether it’s partnering to bring one of the largest master-planned communities to Southern Alberta or installing the first precision cut saw in Canada, Qualico strives to be at the forefront of the building industry.

Qualico is a major sponsor and partner of Big Brothers Big Sisters Calgary, working closely on the All-Stars For Kids Campaign as a matching donor. The commitment goes beyond dollars as Qualico participates in fundraising activities and events during the campaign and also throughout the year.
Qualico has also recently become a partner of Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids. This partnership includes a matching campaign, kitchen takeover, food drive, and monthly lunch making.
