Empire Drywall Expands Service Offering with New Roofing Division

Calgary, AB – Empire Drywall Calgary is excited to announce the expansion of its services with the introduction of its new roofing division.

The new roofing division represents the continued growth and evolution of not only Empire Drywall Calgary as a business unit, but also the expansion of services available within Qualico as a whole. The ‘plug and play’ nature of the roofing business and it being very similar to the drywall business from a scalability and trade base perspective factored into the decision to add the roofing division.

Rob Heemskerk, Vice-President, Empire Drywall, said with Qualico’s support, the team’s continued focus on the residential new home construction sector has led to this significant step forward in strengthening Qualico’s vertical presence in the construction industry.

“One of the most exciting aspects of this expansion is how seamlessly it integrates with our existing systems,” said Rob. “Thanks to our advanced software and business management systems, the transition into roofing services will be smooth and efficient. We can continue to provide the same high level of service our clients have come to expect from us, while also offering roofing solutions tailored to their needs.”

Leading the new roofing division is Mark Montgomery, a veteran roofing manager with 27 years of management experience in new home roofing. Mark holds a wealth of knowledge and expertise, particularly in serving both single and multi-family homebuilders, and brings an experienced team of roofers with significant capacity to meet the needs of Empire Drywall Calgary’s builder partners.  

Initially, Mark will handle most of the technical and estimating work with the plan to bring on a project manager in the future. Doug Dalton, Business Relationship Manager, Empire Drywall Calgary, will assist in a business development capacity. This workflow will enable the division to roof over 1,000 units annually.

Claudio Palumbo, Regional Vice-President, Southern Alberta, shared his congratulations to Rob and the team for adding the roofing division and successfully working with homebuilders to line up jobs so quickly.

“I understand that through our relationship with one of our prominent external homebuilders, 150 roofs will be completed for them this year,” said Claudio. “This is a great start for this new venture.”

The initial rollout of roofing services will be focused on sloped roofing requirements, catering to the new home sector directly. The new division will also accommodate flat roofing when it’s required as part of a majority sloped roofing scope and provide installation and consumables (shingles, underlayment, roof vents, ice shield, etc.).

This consumable supply is something that will allow the business unit to stand out from existing competitors in the market, according to Doug.

“Our access to consumable supply is second to none,” said Doug. “Not only from being a Qualico company, but our current supply chain partners on the drywall side can supply the roofing needs also. So, in addition to our standard spray foam, insulation, drywall, texture, and painting, we will also come and shingle your new build.”
