Qualico Communities Calgary Breaks Ground on New Vantage Rise Community in Airdrie

Airdrie, AB – Qualico Communities Calgary recently broke ground on its upcoming Vantage Rise community in Airdrie, AB, where the business unit has already seen success with its completed Ravenswood community.

At full build-out, the new Vantage Rise community will include four phases across 160 acres of land and will have over 3,000 residents living in 1,200 homes. Home types available in the community will include front garage, laned, townhomes, and mid-rise multi-family.

Thilo Kauffman, Vice-President Community Development, Southern Alberta, said the combined investment in homes and infrastructure will be a lot once the community is complete.

“Vantage Rise will facilitate the completion of important regional public utility work, connect the greater City of Airdrie and regional transportation network, and add $4.1 million in new property taxes to the city annually at build-out, along with $54.4 million in levies to the city,” he said.

Qualico Communities Calgary’s impact in Airdrie began with the community of Ravenswood, which was well-received by residents and sold rather quickly. Ravenswood is now near completion, with only a handful of homes left to sell, making it a good time to expand the business unit’s reach in the city.

“Ravenswood facilitated a lot of new investment in Airdrie over its lifetime, while employing thousands of people in the construction industry, professional services, government, and education during its development,” said Thilo.

As well as contributing to the city with new communities, Qualico is also sponsoring the development of Airdrie’s new library and multi-use facility – something that supports Qualico’s impact area of Education and Lifelong Learning.

The new Vantage Rise community will be located in the southwest corner of Airdrie, known for its rolling hills and stunning views, where residents can enjoy the peacefulness of a rural location while still being just minutes away from important amenities.

Vantage Commons – a 12.25-acre commercial site – will include a pedestrian-oriented main street, a public plaza, an adventure play area, seating, and a connection to the storm pond area. The 15-acre greenspace that will be known as Vantage Green will include a playground, sports courts, open spaces, and a picnic area.

The Qualico Communities Calgary team held the groundbreaking event for Vantage Rise on June 28, with around 50 guests in attendance, including owners, investors, government officials, builders, staff, head office employees, vendor partners, bank representatives, and media.

Thilo and Peter Brown, Mayor of Airdrie, both spoke at the event, which was emceed by Emily Smith, Manager, Marketing & Customer Care, Qualico Communities Calgary.

Guests were treated to food and drink provided by Devour Catering, including a signature cocktail called the Violet Vantage Rise, as well as swag in the form of custom charcuterie boards made by Calgary-based Western Mountain Woodworks.

In addition to the groundbreaking event, Qualico Communities Calgary organized a ceremonial blessing alongside Aubin Consulting, which included the development team, Aubin Consulting, Thilo, and some of the Communities Marketing team.

A prayer was said for the protection of the animals of the land, the partners and workers who will build the neighbourhood, the future homeowners and families of the community, the Qualico team, their families and friends, and the Chief and Elder who facilitated the ceremony (Chief Lee Crowchild of Tsuut’ina Nation).

Airdrie’s footprint is continuing to expand and a new overpass is being built to facilitate the growth of the city, which will allow for better access to Ravenswood and Vantage Rise. Qualico’s newest community in the city will be designed to prioritize a high level of connectivity and a rich variety of amenities that are sure to attract buyers and further add to Airdrie’s appeal.
