Qualico Communities Calgary’s Harmony Wins Best Community for Fifth Time

Calgary, AB – For the fifth time since opening in 2015, Harmony was awarded the Best Community in the Calgary Region at the 2021 Building Industry Land Development (BILD) Awards. Located in Rocky View County, on the western edge of the city, the 1,753-acre development is the largest community housing project ever undertaken by Qualico Communities Calgary.

Featuring the best in lake-style living, innovative amenities, sophisticated housing options, and well-planned connectivity, Harmony is raising the bar in Alberta for new developments that focus on lifestyle and the community experience. With two large freshwater lakes, sand beaches, a world-class golf course, 25 km of trails, parks, and entertainment, the community offers residents an extraordinary wealth of things to do and experience.

The development is being led by Qualico Communities Calgary in partnership with Bordeaux Developments and a slate of top-tier home builders including Augusta Fine Homes, Baywest Homes, Broadview Homes, NuVista Homes, Daytona Homes, Sterling Homes, and Streetside Developments.

“Winning this award speaks to our team’s dedication to excellence and pursuit of innovation,” said Thilo Kaufmann, General Manager, Assets, Qualico Communities, Calgary.

“We stepped outside of a traditional greenfield development plan and worked closely with our partners to find creative housing types, commercial opportunities, and unique amenities that create a distinctive community experience.”

To meet the varying needs and price points of homebuyers, Harmony offers an assortment of high-quality housing options for every lifestyle— from elegant lakefront estates with private docks, to beautifully designed traditional front garage homes and spacious maintenance-free townhomes. All properties feature generous lots and large, semi-customizable designs where every detail has been thoroughly considered for maximum impact.

“Across the board, the quality you're getting is the best of the best,” said Emily Smith, Marketing and Customer Care Manager, Qualico Communities, Calgary.

“We’ve adapted in the past few years by providing new homes at more attainable price points. We still have the big beautiful laned homes, lakeside and estate homes, and we’ve also added new products like front-drive residences and townhomes to provide more options to experience the best of what Harmony has to offer,” she said.

Inside Harmony, Qualico continues to build on the winning framework of lifestyle amenities that make the community a unique and exciting place to live, work, learn and play. With the snow-capped Rocky Mountains as its backdrop, the area provides easy access to the mountains, is close to shops and restaurants, and is a 30-minutes from downtown Calgary.

One of the star attractions in Harmony is the signature Mickelson National Golf Club. Designed in partnership with pro golf legend Phil Mickelson, the course features 18 holes framed by rolling foothills and panoramic vistas. An innovative covered driving range complete with heaters allows golfers to practice their swing in almost any weather. Hugely popular among residents and visitors, the golf course is adding a spectacular new golf clubhouse set to open in the coming months.

On the lake, a new state-of-the-art South Beach Building recently opened in May 2022, providing staffed services like kayak and paddleboard rentals, along with shower and change room facilities for heading out on a fun-filled day on the water. A future Beach Club is also being planned, offering additional programming to raise the excitement in the community even higher.

To complete the lake-life experience, the second of two freshwater lakes are under construction. The new 100-acre reservoir will feature an assortment of additional beaches and lakefront lots. Fed by the Bow River, Harmony’s lake system also provides sustainable drinking water for residents thanks to an innovative water treatment plant.

Designed to offer the best in community living with everything at your fingertips, Harmony boasts over 300 acres of park space, accessible playgrounds, and active recreation spaces including an adventure park maintained by an active Owners Association. The Harmony Adventure Park is complete with a toboggan run, skating rink, and skating ribbon in winter, as well as a dog park, pump track, rock climbing wall, skateboard area, and a new Ninja Course being added later this year.

Adding to Harmony’s impressive range of amenities, construction has started on the new Village Centre, featuring an assortment of quality shopping, entertainment, and restaurant destinations, commercial and community space, and the future home of the high-end Groupe Nordik Wellness Spa. A new school is also in the works, with a slate of new single-family and multi-family homes underway throughout a multi-phased development process. Once fully built, the community will be home to 10,000 – 12,000 residents.

“Harmony just has so much going for it. From kayaking and taking in the beach life, to amazing outdoor amenities that people love, and spectacular views of the mountains, it’s like having a resort in your backyard. It’s a wonderful place to escape the everyday,” said Emily.
