Pacesetter Homes Cycles At The Inside Ride To Raise Funds For Kids With Cancer Society

Edmonton, AB – For the fifth year, Pacesetter Homes Edmonton took up the challenge of The Inside Ride in support of the Kids with Cancer Society. This year’s event was the 8th annual Inside Ride for the city of Edmonton, raising nearly $70,000 in support of children with cancer and their families.

The Kids with Cancer Society provides a number of programs and services in support of the emotional, clinical, financial and research needs of children with cancer in Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories, from diagnosis through to treatment and beyond.

The Inside Ride is Canada’s first indoor cycling challenge and fundraising event dedicated to raising money in support of children with cancer, and it provides participants with a meaningful way to support an incredibly worthy cause.

This year, the Pacesetter Homes team rode for a little girl named Nora. In 2017, Nora was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma at the age of six. She is now seven years old and has started grade two.

“Nora is an incredibly strong and feisty girl with a passion for art and gymnastics," said Percy Pouliot, Executive Assistant, Pacesetter Homes, Edmonton. "She also loves to bake goodies for everyone, but especially for all the staff at the hospital. When she grows up, Nora thinks she would probably like to be either a veterinarian or a nurse. Nora’s father is a survivor of childhood cancer, having battled the same type of cancer as Nora, when he was 10 years old.”

At the event itself, the team of six cycled for 10 minutes each, all the while, dancing, cheering, and competing for medals for Highest Mileage, Best Costume, Best Spirit, and Top Fundraising Teams. The Pacesetter Homes team enjoyed the experience and were honoured to be a part of the challenge.

"Cancer has touched my life, through family and friends, in some form or another," said Mike Pacey, Area Manager, Pacesetter Homes Edmonton. "That personal connection has always made events like this extremely important for me to participate in, not only for raising much needed funds, but to also bring much needed awareness. Putting a face and name to the event, being the young lady we were raising funds for, makes it even more personal and important. It’s all very humbling and inspiring.”

Sterling Homes Edmonton participated this year by generously taking up a collection to donate toward the Pacesetter Homes' team efforts.

Combining its five years of participation, the Pacesetter Homes team has fundraised over $170,000 for The Inside Ride cause. The event is an incredible fundraiser that offers direct support and benefit to local families in need, and Pacesetter Homes hopes to continue its involvement with the cause for many years to come.
