Qualico Communities and Broadview Homes Earn Accolades at 2023 BILD Calgary Awards

Calgary, AB – Qualico Communities and Broadview Homes Calgary each received recognition at the 2023 BILD Calgary Awards, which celebrate the best in Calgary and the surrounding region’s building and development industry.

Qualico Communities Calgary’s Harmony community earned the 2023 BILD Community of the Year award, while Broadview Homes Calgary was honoured with the 2023 BILD Best New Home - $641,000 - $730,999 award for The Homestead model.

Emily Smith, Director, Marketing and Customer Care, Qualico Communities Calgary, described Harmony as an incomparable community to anything in or outside of the city of Calgary. The community includes a 40-acre lake, Adventure Park, Paintbrush Park, Sunset Cove Park, 25 km of completed pathways, and a recently completed Phase 11 park, with an amphitheatre, maze, and sports field. Emily also noted the community’s size makes it stand out from other projects the team has worked on.

“Harmony is bigger than any other community that Qualico Communities Calgary has ever been involved in,” said Emily. “It also features so many amenities that are unique, but also at a scale that is not typical. It is surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain views in southern Alberta. And the homes are incredible. Our team has really elevated our architectural quality in this community.”

Receiving the 2023 BILD Community of the Year award from Qualico Communities Calgary’s industry peers for the seventh time is an important acknowledgement that the Harmony community goes above and beyond the standard, according to Emily.

“This award is also a great way to say thank you to everyone who put so much effort into the community every day,” she shared. “I don’t think we can pinpoint any one component of the community for the wins, but each element contributes to the USP (unique selling proposition) of the community. We’re consistently proving that the elements that were envisioned and shared are tangible, and create value for those who live in the community.”

At the moment, Harmony has a lot going on. The team has crossed the 500 occupied homes milestone, and the first commercial area has now opened with a coffee shop, liquor store, and daycare. Qualico Communities Calgary has also just finished the final buildout of the community garden, including an additional 54 garden plots, water taps, and shed with tools.

Coming up later in 2024, there will be even more exciting things happening. Three new phases will be started, including a large new phase near the future Village Centre with additional density and affordability. The team will be introducing two new builders with this new home product who will be using the existing Discovery Centre to meet with prospective customers starting this summer.

Additional work will be done on the rest of Adventure Park (with resident feedback considered throughout), Village Centre (including a community gathering space and a bridge that will connect the south and north sides of the community), the second lake (which will include additional park and pathway space), as well as a second entrance/exit to Harmony on the east side.

Emily shared that Harmony is having its best year ever sales-wise, and the team is extremely excited to continue to see it grow.

Within the Harmony community, customers can find The Homestead model from Broadview Homes Calgary, which was awarded the 2023 BILD Best New Home - $641,000 - $730,999 award. Andrew Mackenzie, Marketing Manager, Broadview Homes Calgary, said that receiving the award for The Homestead is meaningful for the entire Broadview Homes team.

“It validates our dedication to quality and innovation in homebuilding,” said Andrew. “The accolade not only encourages us to continue delivering superior homes, but also drives us to excel in customer service and to keep pushing the boundaries in the housing industry, enhancing both our brand and our offerings.”

The Homestead stands out thanks to its thoughtful, functional, and welcoming design, which was directly influenced by customer feedback. This focus on thoughtful design and adaptability showcases Broadview Homes Calgary's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of modern families.

The home has a distinctive and striking farmhouse elevation that captures the community's rural essence, paired with a functional and flexible interior. Features include a large gourmet kitchen, a sizeable pantry, an impressive entrance, four spacious bedrooms, a luxurious primary suite, and versatile living spaces that blend practicality with aesthetic appeal, such as a multi-use bonus room that can be tailored to any family’s needs.

The Homestead is just one example of Broadview Homes Calgary continuing to refine its standard specifications to enhance the quality and functionality of the builder’s homes. According to Andrew, a few notable updates include increased 9’ basement ceilings, cabinet upgrades most of the competition consider upgrades, and energy-efficient additions such as two-stage furnace standard in all homes.

In addition, Broadview Homes Calgary has launched legal-suite-ready homes, catering to the growing demand for flexible living solutions and aiding in mortgage approvals. The team is also placing a stronger emphasis on sustainable building practices, with its production team exploring green initiatives that align with environmental standards and innovations.

Building on the team’s recent award win, Broadview Homes Calgary is focusing on enhancing its engagement with customers and the community by revamping the builder’s website to ensure it's as user-friendly as possible and ramping up its social media presence. This effort will kick off with "Broadview's Biggest Promotion," aimed at boosting visibility and interaction.

Broadview Homes Calgary is also looking to broaden its market presence by entering new communities, ensuring that more families can enjoy the quality and craftsmanship of a Broadview home.

“We are continuing our commitment to be a trusted builder by prioritizing transparency, quality, and customer satisfaction,” said Andrew. “These initiatives are part of our strategic approach to strengthen relationships with our clients and reinforce our reputation as a reliable and forward-thinking homebuilder.”

With continued enhancements and innovation, as well as ongoing consideration of feedback from customers, both Qualico Communities and Broadview Homes Calgary are poised to carry on their reputations as award-winning players in the Calgary and region market.
