Qualico Communities Calgary Incorporates New Approach at Sold-Out Realtor Caravan Tour in Dawson’s Landing Community

Calgary, AB – This spring, Qualico Communities Calgary held its first realtor caravan tour that incorporated a new approach to partner with an industry influencer to drum up even more interest and exposure for the Dawson’s Landing community in Chestermere. The event took place on May 17, with 24 real estate agents attending.

The realtor caravan tours help cultivate relationships with Calgary and area agents and assist with building awareness about the communities, builder group, product offerings, and available quick possessions. The tours are a business-to-business (B2B) marketing initiative to support Qualico Communities Calgary’s builder groups by providing a face-to-face experience and customized community tour.

Daisy Lieu, Marketing Manager, Qualico Communities Calgary, said that by taking key learnings from their past caravan tours and partnering with a realtor influencer, the team was successful in creating a pre-event buzz and the event reached sold-out status.

“We sent out an email invitation to our realtor database,” she said, “and worked with industry influencer, Tyler Hassman, to create a teaser video of the community and the event details to share on his channels. As Tyler is one of the top real estate content creators in Calgary, many realtors were keen to join and learn more about the community from him.”

The Qualico Communities Calgary team also looked at ways to continually spark social media engagement during and after the event by encouraging attendees to record and share videos using the business unit’s social media hashtags to be entered to win a $200 prize. Many of the realtors who attended are active industry content creators with a strong following, which generated additional quality social media content for the community and builders.

For the event, Qualico Communities Calgary developed a tour route to hit the major points of interest in and around the community and rented a charter bus for attendees. Realtors received swag packages with a quick possessions inventory sheet, project information, a branded swag item (toiletry bag or waist pack), as well as lunch.

“During the bus tour, our development team, along with our marketing team, spoke on each point of interest in and around the community to provide more context to our guests,” said Daisy. “The bus tour then returned to the showhome parades, where we divided the realtors into three groups and led them into the different showhomes. Builders were able to talk about their homes, pricing, inventory, etc.”

Despite summer typically being a slower time for showhome activity, Daisy noted that Dawson’s Landing showhomes have seen an increase in traffic since the caravan bus tour and that Dawson’s Landing was one of the top-selling communities in June.

“Realtors have been returning to get a more in-depth look at the builders’ homes,” she said, “and interest in Dawson’s Landing has remained very strong, which we feel can be attributed to the promotion and awareness generated from the realtors who participated in the caravan.”

Based on the success of the most recent realtor caravan tour and others held previously, Daisy said Qualico Communities Calgary already has more tours scheduled for the fall, including Rivercrest in Cochrane and Crestmont View.
