Shane Erickson Inducted into BILD Alberta Hall of Fame
Edmonton, AB – Shane Erickson, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives, Qualico, was inducted into the BILD Alberta Hall of Fame at the 2025 BILD Alberta Awards in Banff on Sept.12.
The BILD Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose lifelong contributions have left a lasting impact on Alberta’s land development and homebuilding industry.
With over 35 years of leadership experience, Shane has made significant contributions ranging from practical expertise in framing and HVAC to strategic senior executive positions that shape policy, planning, and community development throughout Northern Alberta. His career is marked by an unwavering commitment to advancing the industry from within and beyond.
“Shane has been a leading voice in defining what BILD Alberta and BILD Edmonton Metro are today,” said Scott Fash, CEO, BILD Alberta. “His leadership, foresight, and commitment to collaboration ensured that these organizations emerged stronger and better equipped to serve the industry and the communities they help build.”
Shane’s career began after graduating with honours from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Urban and Regional Planning. After joining Qualico in 2000, he would rise through the ranks, going from project manager to general manager. In 2012, Shane was named Qualico’s Regional Vice-President for Northern Alberta. He played a key role in advancing Qualico’s diversification efforts, including acquisitions that strengthened supply chains and helped position the company as one of Western Canada’s largest fully integrated real estate firms.
Throughout his career, Shane has dedicated his expertise to shaping the broader industry. He served on the boards of the Edmonton Chapter of the Urban Development Institute Alberta, worked with regional municipalities through the Capital Region Board, and helped lead critical provincial and local association mergers. These efforts unified voices across the sector and strengthened industry advocacy.
Outside the boardroom, Shane has made equally meaningful contributions to the community. He helped lead Qualico’s $750,000 donation to the University Hospital Foundation to establish the West Edmonton Kidney Care Centre, and supported projects like Papa Ken’s House, which provides accommodations for families of children undergoing cancer treatment. He actively supports organizations, including the Kids with Cancer Society and Wellspring Cancer Support, demonstrating his strong commitment to enhancing the well-being of others.
In his remarks at the awards ceremony, Shane reflected on how the industry helped shape his own growth.
“I had no way of imagining the magnitude of personal growth and professional development I would experience,” he said. “Being a part of this association has enriched my life in countless ways—through the connections I’ve made, the opportunities I’ve had to contribute, and the lessons learned from some of the most talented and passionate individuals I’ve ever known.”
He also shared a message for the next generation of builders and planners.
“Don’t just be in this industry, be a part of it. Volunteer. Participate. Step into leadership roles.”
Shane’s legacy is one of service, integrity, and vision. Congratulations to him on this well-earned recognition and for continuing to shape not only the future of our industry, but also the communities we proudly help build.
