Roundhouse Park at Station Lands: The Heart of a New Community Hub
Edmonton, AB – The opening of Roundhouse Park at Station Lands marks a transformative moment for Edmonton’s downtown landscape.
Carefully designed as the public space of the ambitious Station Lands development, this vibrant new park breathes life into what was once a train yard, turning it into a bustling, people-first plaza. Under the direction of Qualico Properties, Roundhouse Park is poised to unite residents, visitors, and businesses, creating a singular heartbeat for this growing district.

Elijah Stauth, Marketing Manager, Qualico Properties, explained how the park reflects the overarching vision for Station Lands.
“Roundhouse Park is about connecting the dots. It ties together our residential, office, and future retail components with the surrounding districts,” he said. “By creating a space that invites daily foot traffic — whether it’s lunch breaks, evening strolls, or weekend adventures — we’re ensuring the entire district grows as one cohesive neighbourhood rather than isolated pockets. That vibrancy drives interest and supports long-term leasing and retail success.”
One of the park’s standout features is its trestle-inspired pedestrian bridge. This elegant nod to Edmonton’s rail heritage doubles as a key piece of infrastructure.
“The bridge isn’t just functional — it offers an elevated lookout, a natural balcony for small performances or community announcements, and a safe, efficient connection across the park,” Elijah said. “Coupled with barrier-free walkways, enhanced sightlines, and durable materials designed for Edmonton’s climate, the park prioritizes accessibility, safety, and sustainability. Our design ensures the park can thrive year-round, welcoming visitors in every season.”
Community lies at the core of Roundhouse Park. With its flexible spaces, the park is envisioned as a place for everyone. Residents from nearby buildings like The Switch, office workers from surrounding towers, and visitors exploring the arena district or museums are all invited to enjoy its charm.
“We aim for constant activity across the week,” said Elijah. “Whether it’s morning fitness classes, artisan markets, family-friendly weekends, or a relaxing lunch outdoors, our goal is to create a space that fosters familiarity and repeat visits—the essence of a true community hub.”
The park is opening in planned phases. The trestle bridge and primary pathways were the first features to open, providing opportunities for movement and exploration. While the entire park is now accessible to the public, it remains in a phased opening stage, with green spaces introduced but active programming expected to begin next spring. A taste of this programming was seen with a pancake breakfast during the Canadian Finals Rodeo, allowing Qualico’s team to test the venue’s potential ahead of its grand opening, set for spring 2026.
Roundhouse Park is more than just another urban greenspace—it’s a vital connector, a sustainable sanctuary, and a driver for the long-term success of Station Lands’ vision. As the district grows, Roundhouse Park will be the beating heart that makes everything else possible.
