Qualico renews support for the Riverhawks Inquiry School

Edmonton, AB – Qualico has confirmed its continued support for the Riverhawks Inquiry School for a fifth year, extending the partnership into 2026. The program gives elementary students in Edmonton the chance to learn outside the classroom, at RE/MAX Field, home of the Edmonton Riverhawks.

Each year, four schools participate in the site-based program that transforms a professional baseball stadium into an outdoor classroom. This gives grades 3 to 5 students a chance to explore the Alberta curriculum through hands-on activities in science, math, social studies, physical education, and language arts.

From throwing pitches to interviewing professionals, students learn by doing and by connecting with the community around them.

“The Edmonton Riverhawks Baseball Club is pleased to offer an Inquiry School opportunity to school aged children in the Edmonton area,” said Dr. Randy Gregg, Managing Director, Edmonton Riverhawks. “With the gracious support of Qualico, our teachers and instructors are excited to provide unique and meaningful learning opportunities to the children in the community.”

A key feature of the program is its emphasis on real-world connections. Students get to journal their observations, tour local landmarks like the Rossdale Garden and Treaty 6 sites, and engage with guest speakers who help bring their learning to life.

This fall, Brad Armstrong, Regional Vice-President, Qualico Northern Alberta, and Nicholas Carels, Vice-President, Streetside Edmonton, visited the Inquiry School to speak to a grade 5 class as part of their Career Pathways talk. They spoke about their roles at Qualico, career paths in the industry, and how teamwork drives success across the company.

“Qualico is proud to support the Edmonton Riverhawks Inquiry School program, which sparks curiosity in young minds and connects learning to real-world experiences,” said Brad. “We recently had the opportunity to meet with grade 5 students participating in this incredible program to share insights into building homes and communities, and to emphasize the importance of teamwork, respectful relationships, and effective communication. Baseball is a fantastic sport that fosters these same qualities, and through this program, we hope to inspire future leaders while sharing our stories and demonstrating our commitment to building better homes and better cities.”

Since its launch in 2022, the Riverhawks Inquiry School, built by Qualico, has steadily grown in reach and impact. The sessions are aligned with Alberta’s curriculum and are enhanced with monthly learning bins, Indigenous teachings, and community visits. Feedback from teachers, students, and parents has been overwhelmingly positive.

By renewing its support for 2026, Qualico is allowing even more students to discover that learning can happen anywhere, even at home plate.
