Qualico and Habitat partner to build homes in Sherwood Park
Sherwood Park, AB – Three families now have a place to call home in Sherwood Park, thanks to a collaborative partnership between Pacesetter Homes, Qualico Communities, and Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. These newly built homes, part of Pacesetter’s Glenmore townhomes, represent the latest milestone in Qualico’s long-standing partnership with Habitat.
The keys to the new homes were handed over during a home celebration ceremony attended by partners, Strathcona County councilors, media, and the new homeowners. This collaboration brought together the homebuilding and land development expertise of Pacesetter Homes and Qualico Communities, enabling Habitat to offer a land-inclusive price. Qualico also contributed a corporate donation.
“At Pacesetter Homes, we know a home is more than walls and a roof. It’s where families grow, dream, and build their futures. That’s why our partnership with Habitat for Humanity means so much to us,” said Dave Armstrong, Vice-President, Pacesetter Homes Edmonton. “Together, we’re creating safe, high-quality homes that open the door for brighter tomorrows for families in our communities.”
Support from Strathcona County, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the Government of Alberta helped fund the project and ensure long-term affordability for the homeowners. Under Habitat’s ownership model, there is no down payment, and monthly mortgage payments are based on just 50% of the home’s appraised fair market value.
“Qualico has a long history of supporting Habitat for Humanity across Western Canada,” said Kraig Radtke, Vice President, Qualico Communities Edmonton. “This project shows how developers and builders can work together to create lasting change for families, and Qualico Communities is proud to contribute to this legacy.”
For Christel, one of the new homeowners, the move marks the beginning of a better future. Her family of six came to Canada from Cameroon in search of a better life.
“My kids will finally have a space big enough to run and play,” Christel shared. “We’ll be part of a beautiful neighbourhood where we can put down our roots.”
“When a family opens the door to their Habitat home, they’re stepping into a future that’s finally within reach,” said Dr. Ann-Marie Reddy, President and CEO, Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. “These homes represent months of hard work, perseverance, and the power of partnership. We are incredibly grateful to our partners for making today possible.”
This build reflects how the collaboration of Qualico business units, community partners, and government can create lasting impact ─ advancing responsible development and supporting sustainable communities.
