This is a new role in Qualico’s newest business vertical. Mike will be reporting directly to Qualico’s President & CEO.
“We considered both internal and external candidates for this role and are proud and pleased to promote from within,” said Kevin. “Mike brings the commercial real estate experience, energy and passion to help grow and manage our extensive portfolio of residential, commercial and industrial income properties.”
As the Senior Vice-President, Qualico Properties, Mike will be allocating his time between Edmonton (where he resides) and the Winnipeg corporate office. He will be focused on leading regional operations in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary to continue to do the following:
- Deliver on the mandate to grow the Qualico Properties portfolio in Canada and the US
- Manage the ROI for all long-term income-producing investments
- Integrate and lead the commercial development, leasing, rental income, asset management and property management entity
Mike’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) degree from the University of Alberta; an Urban Land Economics Diploma from the University of British Columbia (Sauder School of Business); and an MBA in Real Estate Studies from Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon.
Before joining Qualico Commercial Edmonton in 2011 as Senior Director, Development, Mike held various roles in the real estate industry that included consulting, land development and vertical construction.
In 2016, Mike took on the Vice-President, Development, role with Qualico Commercial, overseeing the development of over 4 million sq. ft. of mixed-use, office, retail, residential and light industrial income-producing properties.
Mike enjoys building high-performing teams by understanding individual strengths, empowering staff members and leading by example. He works hard to grow and foster strong relationships within the industry.
Outside of work, Mike is involved in various community boards and not-for-profit organizations, including the Mental Health Foundation (Edmonton), the NAIOP Edmonton Chapter and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.
