Celebrating our Legacy, Building our Future: Qualico’s 75th Anniversary

Qualico is proud to kick off its 75th anniversary celebration, marking a significant achievement in the company’s history and reflecting its enduring mission of Helping Build Better Cities. This milestone is a testament to the team strength, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit that has established Qualico as one of Canada’s leading integrated real estate companies.
From modest origins in 1951, when Dr. David Friesen and Katherine Friesen built six single-family homes in Winnipeg, Qualico has steadily grown into a diverse and innovative organization with operations across Western Canada and parts of the U.S., including cities like Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
Today, Qualico operates in land acquisition and development, single-family and multi-family housing, commercial development and leasing, property management, and building materials and services. Its integrated real estate model and team-driven approach help the company thrive in competitive markets while making meaningful contributions to the communities it serves.
“As we honour the past 75 years, we also look ahead to the future we are building together,” said Kevin Van, President and CEO, Qualico. “Our history may define where we came from, but our leaders and employees define who we are today. Across every region, every business unit, and every role, their efforts are the force behind our growth and continued success.”
For Qualico, this year’s anniversary celebration is about honouring the past while embracing the future. Qualico’s evolution will rely on its leaders and talented employees who continue to innovate, develop resilient communities, and address new challenges.
By staying true to its mission of Helping Build Better Cities, Qualico remains committed to strengthening communities through sustainable practices, responsible management, and charitable contributions.
