Qualico Names Katherine Friesen’s 2023 Trailblazers
Qualico wrapped up its 2023 Katherine Friesen’s Trailblazers
campaign, highlighting inspiring female trailblazers who are making a
difference and leaving their mark on the company. The inspiration for this
series is rooted in Qualico’s commitment to corporate responsibility and its
impact area of gender equality. It also honours the legacy of Katherine Friesen, one
of the founders of Qualico and Rancho.
Trailblazers are people who can take a new or less-travelled
path and by forging their way, the pathway behind them is easier for those who
follow. There is an inherent sense of courage and conviction in trailblazers.
“I live and work with strong, talented women
every day. I can look to Qualico’s second-generation leader, my mother-in-law
Ruth Hastings, and I can look to those I cross paths with at Qualico. We have
so many employees who have that trailblazing spirit,” said Kevin Van, President
and CEO of Qualico. “This campaign brings visibility to the variety of roles
and talents and exceptional role models that exist in our company, and these 12
names are just the tip of the iceberg.”
On International Women’s Day in 2021, it was announced by the
Nellie McClung Foundation that Katherine
Friesen had been named one of 150 women in Manitoba recognized during the
province’s 150th birthday celebrations for her innovative ideas, pioneering
vision, and willingness to brave the unknown.
Each week in March, Qualico shared profiles internally on the
company’s intranet of trailblazers, all with different skills and backgrounds.
We thank the
employees and their leaders for helping share these stories.
