Kensington Homes Breaks Ground in Summerlea Community
Winnipeg, MB – Kensington Homes recently broke ground in the community of Summerlea, located in North Transcona by Gunn Road and Redonda Street. With its unique architecture and gridded streets, Summerlea offers the character of a traditional community in a new, exciting way.
The community includes pedestrian-friendly streets, almost 20 acres of interconnected greenspaces with a network of paved paths and sidewalks, naturalized ponds, easy access to nearby schools, commercial amenities, and existing and proposed recreational facilities.
Gas stations, financial services, restaurants, and grocery stores are just a short drive from the community, and residents can walk or cycle to a variety of parks and trails linked to Summerlea.
Colleen Chaput, Marketing Manager, Kensington Homes, said Summerlea is the ideal place for Kensington Homes to construct new homes because it’s a development connected to an already well-established community in Transcona.
“We are excited about breaking ground in Summerlea because it provides another community option for our dedicated Kensington Homes clients who may want to build in the northeast quadrant of the city, with easy access to the perimeter highway,” said Colleen.

Potential buyers will have a variety of lot sizes and home styles to choose from.
“First-time homebuyers looking for a side-by-side, growing families wanting a large single-family home, and buyers looking to scale back in a small bungalow will all find what they’re looking for from Kensington Homes in the community of Summerlea.”
Colleen noted that Kensington Homes is currently accepting offers on any pre-sale homes, with plenty of lots to choose from.
“We are starting to build some single-family and duplex inventory homes this summer, including our most popular plans, the Prairiehaven and the Monaco bungalow,” she said. “We are also well on our way to completing our showhome for a September opening.”
The Oakmont showhome model will be 1,794 sq. ft. and is a two-storey design that features a main-floor study, three bedrooms, and a large loft on the second floor.
Kensington Homes joins Broadview Homes Winnipeg as another Qualico homebuilder in the community. With plenty of nearby amenities and opportunities for outdoor recreation, Summerlea is a desirable community that will now have even more home options for potential buyers thanks to Kensington Homes joining its roster of homebuilders.
