Port & Mill LogoCoquitlam, BC – StreetSide Developments BC is bringing some new housing options to West Coquitlam with its latest condo development in the area, Port & Mill.

Named for its location tucked between a previously busy industrial port and the country’s largest lumber mill, Port & Mill will be a great option for first-time homebuyers, investors and downsizers.

The two six-storey buildings will include 175 homes, with options for one, two or three bedrooms. Each home will feature premium finishes and fixtures, such as high-end stainless-steel appliances, durable Caesarstone quartz countertops, attractive soft-close laminate cabinets and gleaming ceramic tiles.

The design choices the team made for the buildings help to differentiate Port & Mill from competitors in the area.

“Design elements like the colour palette we’re using help set the development apart from adjacent buildings,” said Jeff Fong, Development Manager, StreetSide Developments BC. “The look is a lot more hip and cool, more modern, than some of the nearby buildings, which use colour palettes that offer a softer, warmer feel.”

For the interior, customers will be able to choose from three custom colour schemes for their homes – Industrial Minimalist, West Coast Modern or Wild Child.

The development will also offer plenty of amenities for residents, including a building with a gym, lounge area and fully equipped kitchen, which will flow out into a beautiful outdoor dining space. A barbeque and outdoor kitchen space will be available for food prep, and lounge spaces will be covered by an eye-catching pergola.

An additional outdoor space will have a small playground and grassy area, as well as plenty of benches for rest and relaxation. Other amenities include electric vehicle charging stalls, a dedicated car wash station, multiple secure bicycle storage rooms and individual storage lockers for each home.

An aspect that is sure to attract potential buyers is the development’s proximity to parks and greenspaces, retail centres and public transportation.

“One characteristic that attracted us to the site was its proximity to Burquitlam SkyTrain Station and the existing and new services that are being developed adjacent to the station,” said Jeff. “The construction of the Evergreen SkyTrain Line (upon which Burquitlam SkyTrain Station is located), combined with the adoption of the Burquitlam-Lougheed Neighbourhood Plan, really opened up a significant segment of the neighbourhood for redevelopment. It is incredibly exciting to be part of the reimagining of the Burquitlam neighbourhood.”

The close public transportation option means easy access to places like Simon Fraser University, Port Moody, and Downtown Vancouver.

Jeff noted that the Port & Mill development will be beneficial for an area that has been experiencing a resurgence.

“Port & Mill will bring additional housing types to the neighbourhood,” he said, “and the larger two- and three-bedroom homes will offer a tantalizing alternative to segments of the population that are either priced out of the single-family detached home market or looking to downsize to a more urban living arrangement.”

The demand is certainly evident, with 75 per cent of the homes in both buildings now sold. The remaining 40 homes will be sold closer to when the buildings are completed. Construction on the project commenced in March 2021, with the first building to be completed sometime in 2023.
